Review of Hairspray (2007) by Nathan B — 12 Jan 2014
This is one of those movies where I couldn't watch it enough! This is a movie, that you can have a big gay party, and all the gays will watch it! I thought Travolta did an excellent job with what he had to work with, and flash forward six years later, as this is what I want to believe is her breakthrough role, I haven't seen her in much lately. What happened?
That said, the music written for this movie is perfect, and everyone's choreography is well in tune. Elijah Kelley (Seaweed), Taylor Parks (Inez) and James Marsden (Corny Collins) give stellar performances! I even have a few of the songs (Good Morning Baltimore and Run and Tell That) on my iPod that I jam out to every now and then. I own the 1988 movie, too, but I prefer this one, though the first "Hairspray" stands its ground, too. "Hairspray" 2007 is one of those movies where I have the Special Edition DVD, Blu-Ray and Soundtrack! I'm disappointed that there isn't a digital copy form. Oh, and on a final note, straight people won't appreciate this movie the way us gays do. Go watch some lame action flick that has A Celebrities that have bad scripts...like "Red 2" or "Transformers"...
