Review of Hairspray (1988) by Maria H — 05 Oct 2017
Although this is a more family-friendly Waters at work here, his wonderful penchant for the kitsch and tacky, and his brilliant larger-than-life characters are still both very evident.
Hairspray is a delightful piece of work that's warm, charming, funny and feelgood, and actually has something to say about acceptance, tolerance and inclusivity.
It really is a fantastic film with a huge heart. I just love it.
