Sit back, watch this movie, and enjoy the wild ride. Fans of the stage musical (which I haven't seen) will probably object to the deleted songs and the vastly changed storyline (which I think is an improvement over the original).
..and the late 70s arrangements of some of the songs sound at times more disco than hippie. The singing and performances are all excellent, though. I'd love to see the stage version now to make a comparison.
