Review of Hail, Caesar! (2016) by Luke E — 24 Mar 2016
'Hail, Caesar!' is the new offering from the Coen Brothers, a huge love letter to Old Hollywood of the 1950s, intertwined with a very elaborate plot involving a very colourful cast of characters at play within a very distraught and comedic toned film.
Expect this to be little mix of 'The Hudsucker Proxy' and 'Barton Fink', whilst the Coen's keep their consistently dark humorous sub-tone inclined to each of the characters and their intertwining sub-plots.
As opposed to being smartly scripted and performed, it's also a beautifully crafted and lavishly colorful visual film, and an almost big standout among the entirety of the Coen's Directorial catalog.
