Less than the sum of its parts. Some beautiful set-pieces, but a paper-thin plot and the cameos are not enough to give this film any substance. Played almost too straight, the film cannot decide whether it is a comedy or an homage to the Golden age of Hollywood.
Like "Who Framed Roger Rabbitt?" without the cartoons or the rabbit.
