"Hail, Caesar!" is not a movie for everyone. It is a slow paced movie, full of symbolism, cryptic dialogue where -- on the surface -- barely anything seems to happen. On the other hand, it is a love letter to the golden age of movies.
It contains some of the Cohen Brothers' most brilliant scenes to date. The direction is phenomenal as well as the acting. It is a movie that takes several viewings in order to fully comprehend its ultimate message.
It is not a perfect movie, but it definitely is an ambitious quasi-masterpiece of cinema. 4/5 stars.
