Review of Hail, Caesar! (2016) by David D — 03 Aug 2016

This film has the intelligence, quirky characters and sly humor you expect from a Coen brothers film. It is enjoyable but not one of their best. It introduces a bunch of fascinating characters portrayed by some of Hollywood's best but none are given enough screen time to real get the best out of the character.

If they had made this a trilogy of films, they could have made something great from all these ideas but there just isn't enough time in a single film for all the ideas packed into this screenplay.

Well worth seeing but not a great film like so many of theirs.
