Review of Hail, Caesar! (2016) by Orlando O — 03 Aug 2016
Hail, Caesar is a fun comedy film that takes place in 1950s around the showbiz of Hollywood while having a blast with the 50's atmosphere, the talented casts, and plenty of humor. Joel and Ethan Coen have fun with taking there film in the 1950s, and a plot that follows Eddie (Josh Brolin) the head production, where he tries to fix every scandal there is and making sure his production studio is running smoothly. The studio major movie production of Hail, Caesar is starring Baird (George Clooney). He is a big shot celebrity, that gets kidnapped by a group known as "the future." They demand $100,000 for the exchange of having there famous celebrity back. Eddie, is trying to maintain his production studio from trying to help an unmarried DeeAnna (Scarlett Johansson) who is expecting during a movie production. Then, a western film star Hobie (Alden Ehrenreich), who is having trouble adjusting on working on a different genre film.
Joel and Ethan Coen script worked well, every character in the film were hilarious in there own way. It is a smart witty comedy film that works in its own way. The only downside is the kidnappers that took Baird and there lectures about there communists way was the dull part of the movie. Otherwise, Hail, Caesar is a fun comedy film with a big cast ensemble, a fun plot and concept of the 1950s Hollywood theme.
