Review of Hail, Caesar! (2016) by Lenny R — 27 Aug 2016
Being the big ensemble piece that is, none of the plotlines are given much chance to develop, but it's got some interesting insights into the old Hollywood studio system, as well as plenty of laughs, loads of that snappy Coen dialogue, and a perfectly cast bunch of top-notch actors (I particularly liked Scarj, Ehrenreich and the twin Swintons).
Plus, it all looks bloody spectacular. To compare it to the Coens' other flicks, in terms of tone, it's kind of a mix of Barton Fink and The Hudsucker Proxy, if not quite as good as either.
