Review of Hail, Caesar! (2016) by Shay Z — 07 May 2017
Another Coen brother numbskull tour de force; this time a Hollywood Golden era based fictional spoof of post-WW's period with Cold War being underway and Hollywood making Roman mythology movies to dulcify them from the depressing wars and win back American audiences and from the ushering Television phenomenon.
Real-life characters like Hedda Hopper who named suspected Communists, sociologist Herbert Marcuse's have been used effectively to match the fictionalized Hollywood actors (and some who are modelled on popular 50's 60's actors).
A must watch for that era movie maniacs and politically aware pundits; others won't comprehend much of the comedy hence 4 star rating instead of 5.
