Review of Hail, Caesar! (2016) by Al_Dsz — 12 Mar 2016
This is not the best Coen Bros film, but still a good one to watch. The cinematography in the film is brilliant and the set pieces and look and feel of 1950s Hollywood is brilliantly captured. However the let down is the plot, there isn't much to it and the 'payoff' at the end seems quite insubstantial for the plot build-up. There is also one subplot (out of a few) that seemed a bit pointless and didn't really add much to the main storyline.
The film has a lot of silly and funnily penned characters though and good performances by all the actors. It's a shame that the storyline and writing didn't do these characters and the overall film much justice.
