Review of Hail, Caesar! (2016) by Bingbong — 13 Mar 2016
I went to watch this with high hopes, and the first 30 minutes were great, actually had me laughing at one point. And then it just slowed down and began meandering along, like an amiable, slightly drunk uncle after a good meal wandering round the garden looking for somewhere to rest his weary bones.
Mind you, I've often noticed this with the Coen's work. Start off with zip and inventiveness and then run out of steam and become unnecessarily wordy. 'No country for old men,' for example, and 'burn after reading.
' Only, TBH, this last was pretty flat from the getgo.
