Review of Hail, Caesar! (2016) by Allan C — 08 Mar 2016

I enjoyed large parts of this, but ultimately felt a little underwhelmed. It's hard to say exactly why I felt underwhelmed. The Coen brothers have, of late, been failing to finish off stories, most notably in A Serious Man and Inside Llewyn Davies, this movie certainly finishes off the main plot, but one or two side stories seem a bit unfinished. However, I can't say that that was the reason for my lack of enthusiasm about the film.

I thought Josh Brolin was very good as Eddie Mannix, there are at least two other stars featuring on the cover which seems a bit misleading for their more cameo-like appearances.

Overall, far from terrible, whilst still quite far from the Coens' best.
