Hail Caesar may well be the most self-indulgent of all the Coen Brothers' movies but if anyone has earned the right they have and it is a joy to watch. The movie is basically an expression of love for the old Hollywood of the giant studios and the blockbuster movies they produced so the plot is of little consequence serving merely as an elaborate frame within which the artwork can be displayed.
A variety of cameos from some of the biggest stars of the movies add to the all-round fun. Not for everyone but movie buffs will love it.
