Enormously entertaining love letter to 50s Hollywood, a screwball soup pastiching musicals, wide-screen Roman epics, gossip columns and even Communist insurgency. As with all Coen Bros movies, it's wonderfully designed and photographed, peppered with brilliant performances, intelligently written, and very quirky.
Carter Burwell's score lampoons Rozsa superbly.
