Review of Haider (2014) by John D — 03 Nov 2015
100% tomatometer rating made me write this review for the most over-rated movie from Bollywood in year 2014. I remember watching this movie in a multiplex where people (mostly younger audience) was inclined towards the other release of the week - BANG BANG. I like serious cinema and in a hope to watch something thrilling and exciting - at least this is what the promos promised - I decided to skip BANG BANG that day and purchased the ticket for what turned out to be a torture for my senses. Haider started out quite well with that doctor's assisting the terrorists and his house getting demolished by the army. But the thrill just ended there. What followed was a series of extremen sadism, one-sided storytelling, anti-army atmosphere and pro-militancy storyline that nearly ducked my mind.
People around me were so bored to death that they had to turn on their smartphones and check messages. It was so torturing that I almost decided to exit the hall few minutes after the interval but then I thought why not test my sense to see how strong I am and how much torture I can handle.
To Mr. Vishal bhardwaj - Sir, I saw your omkara (I was tortured), I saw your matru ki bijli ka mandola (you raped audience's mind) and now with Haider you proved that you are one most boring storyteller in this country.
I will NOT be watching any of your movies again.
PS: Btw your production ek this dayan was good.
