Review of Hacksaw Ridge (2016) by Alirio F — 05 Mar 2017
Hacksaw Ridge is really a remarkable film - one of the best war movies I have ever seen hands down. The story of this brave medic saving his troops is just beyond heroic and extraordinary - simply inspirational in all aspects.
The pacing of the film was really good and I enjoyed the back story but once the battle sequences started, boy were they phenomenal. It was beautifully shot. The cinematography, the script, the cast, the performances, and the score was just superb.
The only thing I regret is not catching this film at an Atmos theater - OMG it sounds so AMAZING. Bombardments were heavy and loud, gave me new sub an amazing workout - WOW!!! I can see now why this movie won an academy for sound and rightfully so and well deserved.
Simply excellent!!! Some may say it was too violent, too extreme or too gruesome, but it's war and nothing in the battlefield is anything less so I was okay with it. Definitely not for the faint of heart.
I gotta say Mel Gibson knocked this one out the park. I had my doubts when I heard Mel to maybe direct the Suicide Sequel, I said "NOOOO" - I take that back let him direct it. Anyhow back to my review, Hacksaw Ridge is on the level of one of my all-time favorite war films - Saving Private Ryan.
This is an instant classic and it truly is an impactful film. Why are you still reading my review? Go see it now!!! :) 10/10 STARS!!!!
