Review of Hacksaw Ridge (2016) by Rochelle H — 31 Mar 2017
I don't believe in pacifism and non violence as the main character does, though I do admire him for his principles and sticking to them. Leaving that aside, this movie was a little too clichà (C)d and corny for my liking.
The female character was the classic pretty small town girl who stays by her man, alcoholic father, hard ships and trials. I will say that it was a powerful performance from Andrew Garfield and the war scenes were very gritty and violent.
I found his convictions to be tear inducing. Overall it was a good but ultimately underwhelming movie.
