Review of Hacksaw Ridge (2016) by Frank G — 01 Apr 2017
Apparently WW2 guys didn't ever have to reload, and carried human torsos as Captain America shields to deflect bullets while hosing down hordes of Japanese while soldiers one-handing BARs. The first half of the movie is basically a cheap, poorly acted Full Metal Jacket rip-off.
And the battle scenes are just gore-porn. The only compelling moment in the whole film comes after the movie is over: the interviews with actual people, including Doss, who turned away Hollywood producers for decades because he didn't want anyone to make an inaccurate version of his story.
Pretty meh, to say the least.
