Review of Hacksaw Ridge (2016) by Michael A — 08 Apr 2017
The first act can come off a little like "The Notebook" but once they go to war, it makes you appreciate the first half of the film when things weren't so visceral... it must be said, the great Mel Gibson directed the shit out of the war scenes and everyone did a fantastic acting job.
Andrew Garfield is totally committed and will be nominated for an Oscar, along with many other nominations for the film. This is powerful, emotional, heartbreaking and extremely violent. And it's all true.
Salute to Desmond Doss and all the WW2 vets. It's imperative you see this film as soon as possible. Once again, thank you Mel Gibson for making me feel.
