Review of Hacksaw Ridge (2016) by Jeff R — 26 Mar 2017
The more I think about this film, the less I liked it. Extremely shallow overall, and falls into the cliches of almost every bad war movie ever made. Through in some absurd "Rambo" scenes (I kid you not, at one point a soldier carries the torso of a dismembered soldier as a shield, while apparently firing a machine gun one handed.).
So much potential in this movie, and the director failed to engage with it. Instead, it's a bloodbath with a thin veneer of principles painted on top.
