Review of Hacksaw Ridge (2016) by Sungyu — 16 Nov 2016

Hacksaw Ridge is the compelling story of a man who perseveres in conjunction with his beliefs despite all odds. It was a spectacular film and a must-see for 2016. Well-known war movies tend to have great audience exposure and high ratings because at times, they're difficult to watch. They portray the reality of war, through the pain and the grit and the everything. Christianity-based movies usually have terrible audience exposure and extremely low ratings because the plot, the issue, and the solution all seem too artificial and unrealistic.

But Hacksaw Ridge is undoubtedly a Christian movie, a gritty Christian film done correctly in my opinion. You see the struggle, a very real struggle of a very faithful man persevering through countless obstacles and hindrances despite all negative pressure and criticism that surrounds him throughout the film. It is very emotional to watch and it's a very raw experience. Personally knowing about the real story of Desmond Doss, I feel that this film does his legacy justice.

This film will grip you and entice you to see just how far this faithful man, Desmond Doss, will go to prove himself and his beliefs. Once again, it is a must-see. Sit tight and enjoy this powerful story that might even bring you to inspirational tears.
