Review of Hacksaw Ridge (2016) by Sarah K — 21 Dec 2017
3.5-star first half: it's okay. 5-star last half: amazing!
I was surprised how much I liked this movie. The war scenes are very well done and honest about the heavy mortal toll of war. I'm not much of a Christian, but I also don't find Christianity offensive. His faith and determination were inspiring, even to me. It takes a while for the reason he won't touch a gun to be fully revealed, but when it is, his motivations make perfect sense. A very deserving subject for a movie. Ranks right up with many of the best war movies out there.
