Review of Hacksaw Ridge (2016) by Jim F — 26 Feb 2017
3/5 stars.
As a historical movie this is reasonably good. The story is interesting. The war scenes are amazing -- of the level of Saving Private Ryan. The overall arc does a good job of conveying the magnitude of the number of people being killed every day.
But outside of the war scenes (which really are just maybe 15-20% of the movie) the rest of the movie is so ham-handed that it is almost laughable at times. It is SO in your face that it just doesn't come across as believable. There were certain lines in the movie that I literally laughed at.
