Review of Hacksaw Ridge (2016) by Late R — 30 Sep 2017

Marvellously filmed with great camerawork and deft direction, 'Hacksaw Ridge' is a well-acted, touching and inspiring story that not only captures the brutal aspect of war, but also the courage of those involved.

You could argue that it is heavy-handed, too gory, has too much of a religious theme or that it's overly patriotic - and yes, I'm sure some of these things will put a few off -- but at the end of the day, this is not really a story about sides or even war; it's a story of an extraordinary man and what it means to stay true to who you are, to show incredible bravery in the face of great adversity and to inspire others to the utmost degree.

I think Gibson has done the real-life Desmond Doss great justice here.
