Review of Hacksaw Ridge (2016) by Edward L — 23 Feb 2017
Last of the best picture movies for me to see. A story about the only Medal of Honor winner to never fire a shot. A war movie at it's basic level, this is really about the values and beliefs one has and how far do you go to keep them.
It was an inspiring film to know that not only were his actions real but so were his convictions. As a movie I had some problems with the pacing. Real slow in the beginning....well the middle too...and now that I mention it at the end.
I was able to go to the bathroom during the third act and not miss anything. This right after my brother went to the bathroom and he didn't miss anything either. Would I recommend this movie? Yes.
Do I think it should be in the list of best pictures? Sure why not? Should it win best picture. No. I think it's firmly in the bottom third of the group. One last thing, Hugo Weaving is in this and hasn't been brought up for anything as far as I know, and he was amazing.
That said. 8/10.
