Review of Hackers (1995) by Jay L — 16 Sep 2011
"TRUST YOUR TECHNOLUST.".
The perfect example of a badly-dated mid 90's techno-thriller. Director Iain Softley (K-Pax) delivered this visually stylish, but technologically-impossible film to appeal to all of the early model computer geeks of the mid 90's. It's jampacked with that strange 90's style and is candy for the eyes until the credit roll. The story is truly awful, it's just way too implausible to think that some pizza faces adolescents could hold the key to thousands of lives, but that's the route that Iain Softley and company take here in this film. Hackers, however implausible, does have a certain entertainment factor and Is worth a watch for the unique style and visuals that are included.
It also includes one of Angelina Jolie's first performances, she's the only one worth watching from an acting standpoint. Iain Softley is better than this.
