Review of Hackers (1995) by The F — 13 Mar 2013
I loved this movie in 1995, I love this movie now in 2013. Yes my super spoiled, tech savvy generation, this movie will not pass the computer diagnostic for truth in computing.
Lighten Up !! So What!! This was not a Documentary!!
This film for me, captured the connection that some of us would have with technology. The basic concept of knowledge and research as a possible gateway to a superpower is amazing to me.
I could only imagine being as smart as Dade "Zero Cool" Murphy or a powerful as Paul "Lord Nikon" Cook.
The Soundtrack to this movie is not filler it's apart of this movie. Every song fit's every situation in this film to perfection. The ablity to make technology sexy, fun, exciting, and dangerous makes this movie a beautiful fortune cookie to what was to become.
No the movie was not perfect. I was freaked out with the magical phantom like disappearance of one of the main characters in the film.
Yes I still think this film was before it's time and the word "Hacker" is more important now then it was then. It comes down to choice, you could use you're skill for good or greed.
A group of Superhero Hackers save the world with out the use of one bullet, that's dope!! I don't know about the rest of ya, but I would go through a thousands pages of binary codes to hang out with Kate ''Acid Burn'' Libby. Smart chicks are freaking sexy!!!
So dust off you're yellow Motorola Advisor Pager. Look for the repair disk for you're Mac PowerBook Duo 270c. See if you can find you're Rollerblades, and don't forget you're backpack and let's go save the world.
Hackers of the World Unite!!
"...angel headed hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night" - Allen Ginsberg's 'Howl' as quoted by Dade Murphy in 'Hackers'.
Johnny Mnemonic + Beverly Hills 90210 + NYNEX = Hackers The Movie.
