Review of Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009) by John B — 22 Feb 2011
Dramatic story of a dog's devotion is emotionally intense. An immensely appealing drama about the extraordinary love and devotion of a dog for his beloved human companion. Sensitively directed and rarely over-sentimental, this touching parable will likely ravish the emotions of dog lovers. A circular routine of smiles and tears, Hachi is delightfully gentle and engaging, refusing to bloat the material past an elementary message of canine loyalty.
VERDICT: "Full Price" - My second highest rating (Positive to Mixed reaction). This is a rating to a movie I view as very entertaining and well made, and definitely worth paying the full price at a theater to see or own on DVD. It is not perfect, but it is definitely excellent.
