Review of Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009) by Krista D — 03 Mar 2011
Powerful movie. Moved Matt, Eryn, and me to tears. But this is not a people story. There isn't a ton of needless dialogue and you don't get invested in the humans. You aren't meant to - except peripherally.
This is, as the title states, "a dog's tale" and there's a possibility that only dog owners and dog lovers will understand. I loved it and hated it. Loved the well-done story. Hated that it made me cry like a baby, and I couldn't stop.
Despite the tears, it really is an awesome story, and it has a sweet enough ending. Highly recommend to people open-minded to NON-fluffy Hollywood/Disney film styles. Especially recommend to dog owners and dog lovers.
