Review of Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009) by Paul K — 23 Dec 2011
Yes, it's Lasse Hallstrom, and it's Richard Gere, and it's a movie about a dog. So we knew what we were getting. It's well produced, heavily reliant on a music track consisting of solo piano, and it's set rather unnecessarily in the 'Mom and apple pie' version of the USA (the true version of the story took place in 1920s Japan).
It was easy to watch, and moving - I shed tears by the end, and was touched by it.
