Review of Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009) by Nie S — 23 Apr 2012
Some parts of the film seem either ill-placed or unnecessary, which makes it very slow paced at times--and you do get the sense that they are extraneous to the subject (Hachi, of course). The music is beautiful in it's own right, but seemed somewhat misplaced or perhaps jarring to what was happening on-screen...if you aren't anticipating the downer ending, the tone of the music in the first part of the film will seem too sad!
Over all, this is a dog-lover's film; something you'll want to watch if you're ready for a little bit of catharsis and an appreciation of a very handsome breed of dog.
