Review of Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009) by Asif K — 09 Jun 2011
Based on the 1987 Japanese film Hachiko Monogatari, as well as on a true story, Hachi: A Dog's Tale stars Richard Gere as a college professor who finds an abandoned dog and takes the poor lost animal in. The film follows the two as the man and animal soon form a strong and unexplainable bond. Joan Allen co-stars in the Inferno Entertainment production.
I wish to have given it a much higher rating, it really touched my heart and brought tears into my eyes. but lets be real honest the movie as I feared and felt during the movie that it wasn't that good.
This is such a heartwarming story of this dog showing us how much of a attachment a pet can have with us. it is very emotional and sad story. screenplay has some blank or empty patches which is why the movie overall is not that good. good cinematography and art direction. Direction of this movie could have been better. it is directed by Lasse Hallström.
It stars Richard Gere, Joan Allen, Sarah Roemer, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Erick Avari , Jason Alexander, not great but nice performances. but my favorite character was Hachi ofcourse.
Background score is good. I loved this dog in it. I was crying so much towards the end, its heartbreaking to see Hachi waiting in that exact same spot for his owner everyday even when he is gone. I was touched by this bond between them too. its sad, touching and true story that you will like watching even this movie has some flaws.
