Review of Gypsy 83 (2001) by Laurelyn K — 23 Oct 2007
I absolutely loved this movie.
There were some things that are not generally true, like goths loving Stevie Nicks and most goth boys being gay (both ideas coming from the director's own personal experiences), but otherwise it's a touching story.
Some may see it as a very tragical movie, since both Gypsy and Clive go through tons of disappointments, never forgetting their already troubled life and past.. but that's just how life is, it almost never is a fairytale, even less when you're an outcast. Many "freaks" might identify with it, others might realize their life can be shittier, while other small-minded people might shun this film as "obvious", "exaggerated" or as "reasons not to befriend a freak". Take your pick.
