Review of Guru (2006) by Myear J — 07 Aug 2007
Mani ratnam continues to cement himself as the most important director in bollywood with Guru, a fantastic character study of a good man mixed in bad business. The first half of this film is brilliant, well shot, well paced and has Abhishek and Aishwarya performing excellently.
Then the second half begins to lag and ultimately the film stumbles to the finish line. With a better finale this could have been the Citizen Kane of Bollywood, nevertheless, the movie is still fantastic as is and remains the best indian film of the year so far.
