Review of Gunner Palace (2004) by Henri N — 21 Oct 2009
A great documentary which showed most of the events that take place in a daily life of a regular U.S. marine.
Some of the brutalities of war were probably cut out but I guess that wasn't the point after all. What was the point was demonstrating the physical and mental hell that comes with being a marine in the modern Iraq war.
And based on my knowledge of past war films and soldiers of militaries they will be as unappreciated after the war as they are currently in it.
Whether or not the Iraq war is neccesary I still can't say for certain; although I do lean on the pro-war side.
It seems that in the end its not whether the war should have been fought or not but how it was fought.
So, whatever levels of intelligence these soldiers possess I just hope they are fighting justly and morally.
