Review of Gunga Din (1939) by Joel A — 20 Nov 2013
The adventure film I have been dying to see for years I finally got around to & like many films I get excited about it fell a bit short.
Surprisingly this was the 2nd most commercially successful film of 1939 second naturally to Gone with the Wind.
Although it's a good little story about a group of English Soldiers working with Gunga Din to stop a muderous cult it was a struggle in parts.
Filled with stagy acting & corny dialogue that probably didn't help. It's good film but surprisingly revered.
