Review of Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957) by Eric E — 17 Nov 2013
John Sturges directed version of the Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday showdown in Tombstone. Burt Lancaster is the upright Earp and Kirk Douglas is the colorful and morally questionable Holliday. In terms of being historically accurate, this film is pure Hollywood fiction.
However, it's a very entertaining film with plenty of solid action. Sturges would revisit Earp and Holliday years later with "Hour of the Gun" telling a much more historically accurate port rail of the events that took place after the gunfight at the O.
