Review of Gummo (1997) by Mithila Minxy K — 24 May 2008
Gummo is Kafkaesque in every goddamn way. Surrealism can't get any better than this. Gummo is definitely not for people who like clear, linear narratives and like to know everything that goes on in a film the same instant it occurs.
Gummo will leave you ruminating on what atually transpired because I'm sure you won't understand it the first time round. The only thing I can tell you about the narrative is that you have two boys talking about a lot of stuff - devil worship, suicide etc.
Why, I can't tell you. Watch it if you're up for madness, repugnancy and more madness. Don't say I didn't warn you about the cat!
