Review of Gummo (1997) by Alandro S — 25 Jan 2010
As a good friend of mine once described this film after hearing me recommend it to another friend "Satanic Hillbillies Killing Cats" although I don't agree with this generalization it does a good job at describing some of the disturbing content within (He later went on to declare the film Amazing, as it is with most people a grower) Fuck all those douchey little Saw and Hostel-esque films as a matter of fact fuck the entire horror genre compared to Gummo as it is so above it, the difference being that these demons and monsters live within the human psyche and they are clwing at out insides wanting to get out and Gummo is the inbred bastard children that wee conceived during the rape of your mother in front of your own eyes while you were forced to watch, as it shows us just how dark and twisted humanity really is, it just caries and unsettling atmosphere with it backed by an incredible soundtrack of Black & Doom Metal, Grindcore and Dark Ambient.
