Review of Gummo (1997) by Jake F — 23 Mar 2013
Kids may have been the ultimate love it or hate it film, but Korine's Gummo is the love it and hate it film. Full of sick, fever-dream moments stitched together with bizzarre, home-made sequences, Gummo never lets up even for a second on it's seemingly nihilistic intention.
The scum of the trailer trash middle America comes passionately alive, even if it feels like sometimes Korine doesn't know if he wants you to love or hate them, sympathize or condemn.
