Review of Gulliver's Travels (2010) by Jessica G — 09 Aug 2011
Swift's original satiric concept is given a broad, dumb comedy makeover in this adaptation. Black repeats his slacker bozo role yet another time, here learning some lessons in self-belief and winning the seemingly unattainable girl whilst in Lilliput, whilst a handful of decent actors get a few lines delivered tongue firmly in cheek.
There are a handful of decent laughs and the script has a few witty lines, but the reliance on pop culture or product placement references and a Transformers robot style finale just stinks of laziness.
