Review of Gulliver's Travels (2010) by Claudia G — 29 Aug 2012
Yes, there's a cast member credited as "Butt-Crack Man". Yes, this is light and very silly and riddled with easy-target potty humour. Yes, the ending is Hollywood saccharine. Yes, this is an undemanding film designed for undemanding kids.
Yes, Gulliver puts out a massive town fire by peeing on it. Yes, I pretty much loved it. That's most due to the rumpled genius of Jack Black. And to the conceit that as a demigod of his own community, a Gen X slacker would stage plays based on his favourite films, casting himself as the lead.
And to the legendary Big Yin. "Please remember your indoor castle voice" Classic.
