Review of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967) by Jonny P — 25 Jun 2009
When I decided to watch this movie, I never expected Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn to steal the show. And that rant by the maid!!!! I never saw that coming! This movie possesses some of the best monologues in movie history and is an absolute must see.
Though Poitier and Houghton are charming (and the center of the plot), this movie truly revolves around the parents and their ability/inability to look past racial barriers. Regardless of your views on the issues presented in this movie, it is just incredible to watch these stars shine their brightest.
With a tear in her eye, Hepburn delivers a wonderful performance and earned her Oscar against some stiff competition. I donâ??t know how Tracy didnâ??t win an Academy Award for this performance!!!
