Review of Guarding Tess (1994) by Jae B — 16 May 2010
There are some serious tonal issues at play in this odd couple dramedy that sees Shirley McLaneâ??s First Lady Harpy battling wits & wills with Nicolas Cageâ??s neutered Special Agent In Charge. Most of the film is spent entrenched in sorta humorous screaming matches between the two combatants, but the last minute kidnapping plot takes the film into some awkwardly dark places (Nic Cage executes one nasty game of This Little Piggy).
Are you a buddy comedy, or a suspense thriller? Pick one. VF.
