Review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) by Michael G — 18 Oct 2017
Worst movie in the marvel franchise. Very poorly written. The final battle scene was way too long and was actually boring. The resolution of Starlord's "paternal-issue" character arc was superficial, lame and deeply unsatisfying. Awful. It was the worst part about this movie. It makes me wonder if the writers even SAW the first film. The blue Mohawk guy was never a character I found to be interesting, and never grew attached to, so his role in the end of starlord's character arc completely ruined the movie for me.
Drax was disappointing too- in this movie he has suddenly and inexplicably learned how to crack jokes and use metaphors. He has no other purpose than comic relief, and could have been replaced with howard the duck or a giant chicken and it would have had zero impact on the movie.
Starlord and the Green girl have zero chemistry. The gold aliens are uninteresting and unthreatening. Thanos "other daughter" is also uninteresting, unthreatening, and her character arc is about as nuanced as a fart joke.
Great opening scene and soundtrack. The rest was awful.
One point five/10.
Would NOT recommend.
