Review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) by Golemgac — 06 May 2017
It looks like James Gunn has a clear vision of introducing cosmic part of MCU to the mainstream audience. This sequel continues a few subplots which make us feel big empathy for characters even if it didn't have a main story until the half of the movie. When in the previous film the last chapter wasn't really good, in this scenario the final is by far the best part of the show.
One of the biggest advantages of the new Guardians(besides amazing music) was Ego, really complex and interesting character, playing by charismatic Kurt Rusell and voice acting of Rocket Raccoon by Bradley Cooper. Also visual effects of every battle and planet are done incredibly well.
There are moments when we're getting one gag after another and then the serious scene but all of them in conclusion make film more entertaining. Drax's lines were giving me smile every time, just like his relation with Mantis also Yondu and Ravagers didn't waste their screen time. Although this formula works perfectly for our adventure-comedy-space opera, I think Marvel will have to take some more risky steps forward for the GotG Vol.3.
