Review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) by Squaredren — 04 May 2017
Before going to this film I was a little scared by some reviews it got, some people calling it not "good as the first one", forced, and things like that. Now that I've seen it I can tell you FORGET about them! This movie by no means can be compared to the first one because it's very DIFFERENT.
It doesn't try to remake things the 1st had, it makes unique new things with that awesome GotG flavor we all love from the 1st one. Yes, some jokes don't land, and yes some "dramatic scenes" feel out of place.
But no film is perfect & this film did original and unique things that expand every character of the roster. You get to know them a lot more, and by that, you end up loving them EVEN more that you already did (assuming you liked the 1st one).
The message it brings at the end it's reinforced by all that happened in the 1st entry, and by things that happened in this one, the movie it's so good. Overall, do not compare this film with the 1st one because you are making a mistake.
Take this film as a new entry, a new experience, a new breathing to the franchise.
