Review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) by Rebecca31 — 04 May 2017
Although I swore never to get excited for another Marvel movie ever again I just can’t help myself when it comes to Guardians of the Galaxy and I certainly wasn’t disappointed this time. Sure I wasn’t exactly blown away, but I was entertained. It’s got all the charm and humour as the first one, the same wonderful characters with some new not so wonderful characters and an average, predictable storyline. It does suffer from the overuse of special effects with one too many scenes that seem to be straight up lifted from a video game but at the same time you’re invested in the story you just start to go along with it, despite how over the top it may become. More importantly you’re rooting for these well written characters that you love from Guardians Vol 1 and now you can just sit back and enjoy the show, so that’s exactly what I did.
So to sum up no it’s not as good as Vol 1 but you will indeed enjoy it as much and yes Groot steals the show yet again, surpise surpise. Baby Groot is just too adorable to resist. Recommended if you’re a fan of the first Guardians movie. And hats off to Marvel, if they can make us sit through not one but five post credit scenes then we’re all well and truly addicted.
