Review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) by Draeko D — 23 May 2017
An emotional story about finding family not in our veins but in our hearts, Guardians of the Galaxy (Vol 2), despite its eye-popping special effects (speaking literally), it really just boiled down to a story about clique loyalty and (in case you missed it) paternal child abuse.
I walked away from the movie thinking that deadbeat white trailer park pops, like Ego, and abusive urban black daddies, like Thanos, can transcend galactic boundaries. From me, a three star rating means that I liked it.
Five stars are only for the film most phenomenal. Yes. I liked it. And despite the incredible journey to galaxy what... M5-billion?!?, moving so fast forward through the cosmos while slapping me back to the 70's with musicales nostalgia, this did not take me there.
It just felt like another in a long series of endless comic book expositions, the colossal Marvel Studio set up before the real entertainment starts. That Infinity saga had better be worth the wait, or I may just turn in my hairless dome, opt in for some hair transplants, and quit being a Watcher.
